Area 515 and the Des Moines Makerspace expanded its offerings when it moved into its new location on Grand Avenue in 2014.
“It was a huge upgrade for us. We’re glad for the additional space,” President Tim Shearouse said. “It’s given us a lot of good visibility as we continue to grow. As we look to continue to enhance our workshop, we’re love to have our own building someday, but being downtown has been great for us.”
Shearouse spoke with The Des Moines Register about the organization.
Q: What is the goal of Area 515 and the Makerspace?
A: To provide a physical space and tools for hobbyists, entrepreneurs and artists who come in and access the tools you would find in your garage.
