WESTFIELD — The Feb. 6 School Committee began with student representatives from the Westfield Intermediate School giving a “state of the school” address on their 100th day of school.
Actually, it began with a joke from Jacob Houle, who asked, ‘Why are chickens so funny?”
“Because,” Houle said, in the voice of a drawn-out chicken squawking, in a sendup of a joke currently trending on TikTok.
Lexi Debruin spoke about a recent field trip to the Whip City Animal Sanctuary, and some of the animals students saw there. She also spoke and showed a Winter Concert clip of the WIS band, which has 180 musicians in it. She said the band meets every day, and the jazz band once a week after school. They will be playing a spring concert and participating in the Memorial Day parade.
