Bolstered by a $33,000 grant from Google earlier this year, Montello Primary School is making strides in STEM education. From coding lego robotics to trying their hands at 3D printing, their new maker’s space is changing the way the school teaches science, technology, engineering and maths. Advanced skills teacher Cameron Hales said student engagement had grown significantly since fully opening the classroom earlier this year. “We’ve had kids coming in before school, during break times, wanting to have a go at different things in here and their own projects,” Mr Hales said. “I’ve seen the whole journey from where we started through to now, and certainly what we’re seeing at the moment is high engagement, and (the kids’) excitement to come into the space… including kids who might have been a bit disengaged in the past, or who had low attendance.” He said the…
