After many years of robotics competitions, the four members of the Longmont High “Pronounce This” team have found the key to success is continuously improving their original robot design after each performance.
“After every competition, we look at x, y, z wasn’t ideal, and we change it,” said sophomore Abi Reichert, the team’s project manager and engineering notebooker. “We’re like a well oiled machine.”
The team took their sixth version of this season’s robot to the recent state competition. They said their robot, which is on the smaller side, is especially fast.
“We spend a lot of time optimizing the robots,” said sophomore Alex Dickhans.
The team’s rebuilding strategy paid off, with “Pronounce This” winning the overall high school championship, as well as the excellence and robot skills awards. Next, the team is headed to the World Championships…
