The Piedmont Unified School District has announced that Piedmont resident Dave Ragones is the Arthur Hecht Volunteer of the Year.
“David has championed STEAM (science, technology, engineering, arts and math) and other educational activities in Piedmont for over 10 years,” said Dr. Donald Evans, the PUSD’s interim superintendent. “He has partnered with schools to increase equity in computer classes at our high schools, has organized a robotics league and initiated the first school Maker Faire in the country that is still going strong.
Ragones co-founded Piedmont Makers in 2014 as a nonprofit dedicated to supporting and inspiring K-12 STEAM education.
