At the Altavista town council’s most recent work session on October 27, council discussed the town’s audit, housing in Altavista and more.
First, Mayor Mike Mattox thanked council member Reggie Bennett for connecting the council with Altavista native Bobby Hall to consult with the town on creating a “maker space” in its planned co-working space.
Hall said he has been pleased with the council’s efforts to promote economic development, and presented a plan for what the makerspace might look like. Hall said the makerspace could be an area for students, hobbyists and professionals to collaborate and learn from each other.
“The impact on the community would be that you have inspiration,” Hall said. “You actually have everyone in the community invited to create the economy and build themselves their own future.”
