
America is a nation of makers.
From historical figures like Benjamin Franklin and Thomas Edison, to modern day inventors like Steve Jobs and Elon Musk, this country’s foundation is rooted in the ideals of experimentation and innovation.
One local nonprofit is ensuring that those same ideals are instilled into the next generation of makers and is using traditional tools, cutting-edge technology and a collaborative environment to make it happen.
“The Hatch is a makerspace. It’s essentially a shared studio and workshop,” said Hatch Athens founder Erica Parson. “We’re all makers. Everybody has a talent; everybody is good at making something. Now, they have the tools and the space to do it.”
