The Dallas Makerspace survival guide | Mark Randall Havens

Just as with any organization, a makerspace that doesn’t work towards its overall mission operates based on the personality of a highly invested prominent person in the organization, such as the founder, the board chair, the president, or some other key influential member of the space.

In many cases, if that individual leaves, with insufficient structure in place, the space often shuts down or dramatically changes under new leadership.

While this might seem like a negative thing, it’s actually a testament to the power of that one individual. After all, it takes a lot of passion and dedication to keep a makerspace going.

If one person can have such a huge impact, imagine what a group of committed individuals could do.
