Mar. 28—A Lackawanna College program is helping underrepresented entrepreneurs succeed.
Venture Lab, launched in spring 2020, helps women, minorities, low-income people and others launch businesses.
The program offers seminars, business planning, a makerspace with 3D printers, microloans and specialty programs, such as a ghost kitchen, which provides kitchen space to fulfill online or phone orders for delivery.
It also gives participants access to the means needed to launch a business, said Venture Lab Director Michael Jensen.
“We provide a bridge to some of those resources and infrastructure,” he said. “Getting them over the threshold of those barriers that prevent them from participating fully in entrepreneurship.”
The program pairs students in business classes with an entrepreneur, internships and fellowships.
