CLEVELAND, Ohio – A Cleveland-based start-up working on filtration technology that would keep plastic microfibers from being discharged into sewer systems during the laundry cycle has announced a step forward in its product development.
CLEANR, which operates out of the Sears think[box] makerspace at Case Western Reserve University, said Wednesday that it is teaming up with GKD Group, a German-based manufacturer of mesh filtration.
“Washing-machine manufacturers around the world are facing growing demand for consumer-friendly, cost-efficient microplastic filtering solutions to address pending regulations in Europe, North America and beyond,” CLEANR CEO Max Pennington said in a news release.
