As Above, So Below The Atrium
The Anderson atrium acts as the geographic, social – and for many students, academic – beating heart of the Carleton campus. Amidst the chatter of students and smells of fresh pastries at Schultze Café, one detail is easily missed. A sign in front of the stairs written in big squiggly letters reads: MAKERSPACE, NOW OPEN!

A Space for Creation
A long rectangular room nestled below the atrium, the MakerSpace is stocked to the brim with all manner of tools and supplies. We’re talking 3D printers, sewing machines, sticker makers, soldering irons, power tools, felt, yarn, and so much more. In addition they have premade kits with supplies to help teach students crafting skills. Multiple times a term, the MakerSpace will come to the surface to run clothing mending workshops, bike repairs, and art events.
