RAVENNA – A new hike-bike trail will provide more opportunities for a healthy lifestyle, and it could do a lot for Ravenna residents’ mental wellbeing.
That’s according to Dr. McKenzie Behrendt, a board member with the Ravenna Area Vision Fund. RAV is planning a ribbon cutting at 1 p.m. Friday for Ravenna’s new hike-bike trail. The main trail head is at 716 McKinley Ave. on the east side of town. The trail spans 1.55 miles and it’s surfaced with crushed limestone.
Behrendt said a section of the trail skirts the South Platte River, providing an opportunity to get reacquainted with nature.
“I was on the trail the other day and saw a deer, a rabbit and a squirrel,” Behrendt said. She said hikers, runners and cyclists all can tap the trail for exercise, but the opportunity to slow down and reflect…
