Anchor Bay Middle School South students are tinkering with their education, and their creativity could spread to other classrooms, as well.
The school in Chesterfield Township began designing a classroom and curriculum in the fall of 2021 for the pilot program Makerspace, said teacher Julie Sheridan.
“It was piloted first semester with one hour of students,” she said. “For second semester, we have four sections/classes of Makerspace.”
The Makerspace course allows students to create items unique to their interest in a hands-on environment. It is open to ABMSS seventh and eighth grade students. Prerequisites include a design and modeling class.
