Kimberly and Jason Mahlman were in a meeting with their oldest son Tyler as he was receiving information about being deployed to Kuwait as part of the United States Military. That was when they received a text message from their middle child and youngest son Riley saying he was ready to commit to Wisconsin.

Riley, a heavily-recruited offensive tackle from Lakeville (Minn.) South had visits schedule to other schools the next three weeks. Neither parent expected that when they had his uncles bring him to Madison in their place that day, that he would decide to end the process. But the No. 8 Badgers were hosting No. 14 Michigan and Camp Randall was electric. The 35-14 win over the Wolverines did not hurt. His father’s response was still, ‘hold on big guy, get home and talk to us first.’
