As Hamilton Liberal MP Filomena Tassi settles into her new ministerial role overseeing the Federal Economic Development Agency for Southern Ontario, she says 2023 could prove beneficial for the city.
Tassi, who took over the ministry at the end of August 2022, after being minister of public services and procurement, said she remains focused on a series of issues, with federal funding for affordable housing topping the list.
“This is such an important issue,” said Tassi, in an interview.
Tassi said Hamilton will be one of the 41 municipalities identified to receive funding from the Rapid Housing Initiative under the Cities Stream in 2023. The federal government has added $1.5 billion through the initiative to top-up the program at $4 billion.
