
It is summertime and the kids are out of school, but that doesn’t stop the Boys & Girls Club from teaching your child a little more each day.
A way we are able to have a controlled classroom setting is with our new makerspace.
A makerspace can encompass aspects of a shop class, home economics class, an art studio and science lab all in one. Members will become creative learners, and they will be encouraged to be self-sufficient, creative and innovative problem solvers in the makerspace environment.
Makerspace projects require that our members tackle the tough problems, think critically, research solutions independently, experiment, fail, be resilient and try again.
Besides tackling skill development with STEM — science, technology, engineering and math — activities, the makerspace area will also be the area in which we work with our teen members to teach life skills. Kids who…
