Stepping into the new West Oso Elementary School library for the first time, third grader Penelope Lopez declared it “10 out of 10.”
“Reading is my favorite subject,” Penelope said.
The school unveiled the renovated space, complete with colorful wall murals, games, puzzles and puppets, a maker-space for creative activities, reading spaces and, of course, shelves full of books, Thursday evening.
“We love it so much,” Penelope said enthusiastically, leaning over a chess board with her younger sister.
“Especially this room (the main library) and the play room,” Ellani Lopez, who won’t attend the school until next year but already is excited about the library, chimed in.
The West Oso Elementary School was one of several libraries in the region that celebrated renovations this month. Others include Corpus Christi ISD’s Shaw Elementary School and Beeville ISD’s R.A. Hall Elementary School.
