Triway Local Schools and Mapleton Local Schools are discussing what’s next after failing to pass their ballot issues in the May primary.
Mapleton’s additional 0.75% earned income tax failed by a vote of 623 to 451.
Triway’s 2.8-mil, three-year renewal was defeated by a vote of 495 to 406.

Only 48% of the school tax issues on Ohio’s May primary election ballot were approved by voters, with passage of 36 of 75 issues, according to information released by the Ohio School Boards Association. This number represented a decrease from the 2022 primary election in which 49 of 75 school taxes, or 65%, of issues were approved, the OSBA said.
