JACKSON, MI – Three members of Jackson’s Willis family are the featured speakers at the upcoming Martin Luther King Jr. Diversity Celebration.
The event begins with breakfast at 7:30 a.m. Friday, Jan, 13, at the American 1 Event Center, 128 W. Ganson St., at the Jackson County Fairgrounds/Keeley Park.
The event aims to promote community collaboration to reflect King’s dream and to motivate youth for service and excellence, officials said.
John Willis and his sons, Khari Jay, are the event’s featured speakers.
Willis, a newly elected member of the Jackson County Board of Commissioners, currently works as the chief equity officer and director of Diversity, Equity, & Inclusion for the city of Jackson. He is also the former director of Jackson’s Martin Luther King Jr. Community Center and Jackson College men’s basketball coach.
