Harlem Middle School’s principal Carla Shelton says her students and teachers dream big and now the school is the first in the county to join the Science, Technology, Engineering and Math Makerspace movement.
The school held a ribbon cutting and grand opening for its very own Makerspace, a creative space with a sole purpose: to give students the space and tools to create and invent.
“There are so many things that we have benefited from that has been created in a Makerspace,” said Shelton. “The smart watch was actually created in a Makerspace. The maker’s movement is going across the nation very rapidly,” she added.
