Of the approximately 365 total acres that make up Chatham Hall’s campus, about 260 of them are wooded. After a couple years of planning and researching, the school is taking steps toward creating an accredited Level I arboretum on campus.
Chatham Hall alumna and trustee Kate Bulksley was inspired when she heard an address from fellow alumna Shirley Young.
Young founded an arboretum in Philadelphia, and as someone who grew up in Colorado surrounded by beautiful trees which she came to love, an idea sparked in Bulksley’s mind.
