DOWNTOWN AKRON — The Sylvester Small Administration Building was bustling with activity during the June 14 meeting of the Akron Public Schools (APS) Board of Education as officials recognized numerous staff.
The board presented Distinguished Employee Emeritus certificates to the following retirees with the most years of service: Elementary school teacher Vincent Malorni (35 years); high school teacher Mary Graichen (34 years); special education teacher Janet Willse (33 years); field administrator Sharon Hill-Jones (30 years); office support staff member Karen Caley (36 years); educational assistant Anne Hoover (35 years); custodian Carrie Pruiett (36 years); foreman Todd Wiley (30 years); and child nutrition staff member Jewel Thomas (32 years).
