Prior to and spilling into the Tyrone Area School Board (TASB) work session May 2, several presentations took place during a TASB finance committee meeting to review elements of the preliminary 2023-2024 budget–with a proposed total of $29,102,008 that potentially includes an increase in millage rates.
District Business Administrator Faith Swanson explained that the budget deficit as projected would be $1,627,719, based on current expenditure projections with no millage increase. Increasing the millage to half of the 5.7% Act 1 index, the projected budget deficit would be $1,405,270 and increasing it to the full index of 5.7% would cause the projected budget deficit to be $1,230,095.
