Teachers are always trying to improve their classes and help students better learn and have a better educational experience.
The Grand Island Public Schools Foundation surprised teachers with more than $17,000 in classroom grants on Wednesday, Oct. 25. More than 4,500 students in the GIPS district will benefit from 13 grants.
As part of an annual program, the GIPS Foundation awards classroom grants to help fund educational opportunities that are not possible with the district’s budget. According to GIPS Foundation Executive Director Kari Hooker-Leep, teachers have to apply at the beginning of the school year and a committee decides on grants.
