A hands-on enhancement to education is being adopted by students at two campuses in Conejo Valley Unified School District.
Makerspaces, a new kind of learning environment, have been established this fall at Ladera and Westlake elementary schools. These are places that enable children to take part in do-it-yourself creative projects and can be located anywhere, including museums, public libraries and schools.
“The kids are super excited about it,” Ladera Principal Lori Wall said. “I’m hoping that it opens a world for the kids to be creative and innovative.”
Ladera’s makerspace is housed in the school’s library, and students can visit it during their lunch period. Inside the designated area, they can participate in…
