TORRINGTON — A throng of children, parents and caregivers turned out at KidsPlay Children’s Museum to celebrate a new play exhibit featuring outdoor skating pond, but without the cold and ice.
The recent Winterpalooza party welcomed Polar Pond, which children quickly discovered in the main playroom of the museum. The pond, built by exhibits and facilities manager Karl Nilsson, has big, stuffed penguins, a polar bear and a baby seal to play with, but otherwise, it’s just a slippery space.
Siblings Eleanor Williams, 7. and Sadie Williams, 5, who visited the museum with their grandmother, Darlene Ducharme of Morris, twirled and jumped across the surface of the new pond, with shrieks of delight.
