DECATUR — City sidewalks will be dressed in holiday style as downtown Decatur celebrates Christmas the whole month of December.
The festivities will kick off with the Christmas parade at 4:30 p.m. Saturday, Dec. 2, following the usual parade route, beginning at Franklin and Wood streets, going north on Franklin, west on North Street, south on Main Street, and ending at the corner of Main and Main.
And, of course, Santa will be there.
“Santa will be at the Transfer House a few hours ahead of the parade (from 10 a.m. to 4 p.m.) and then bring up the end of the parade,” said Jes Younghouse, who is the parade coordinator for the sponsor, Earthmover Credit Union.
Every entry has to have at least 100 lights, Younghouse said, and there are some fun entries this year. Swartz Properties will have the Grinch and Whoville for their float. The Cub Scouts are bringing…
