Class registration is open for the Pittsburgh Creative Arts Festival, returning under a new name after a pandemic-year hiatus.
Founded in 2005 as the Pittsburgh Knit & Crochet Festival, the event will be held Aug. 12-14 at the DoubleTree by Hilton in Green Tree.
Under new ownership, the festival will offer more than 50 classes in knitting, crochet, quilting, weaving and other creative arts, along with vendors, special displays and events, community service opportunities and make-it, take-it activities in the Maker Space.
“It’s going to be a whole bunch of fun,” said festival owner Laura Regan, who also is a longtime festival vendor under the name Created 4 U by Laura.
Among class topics are:
• Knitting: Socks, scarves, sweaters, Fair Isle techniques, basic cable, beading, tatting and more.
• Crochet: Tunisian crochet, crochet on canvas, free-form crochet and more.
