The last time Charles Brown performed in Morristown, a gallon of gas cost 39 cents, Richard Nixon occupied the White House, and Pink Floyd’s Dark Side of the Moon ruled the FM dial.
That was 1973. His Morristown High teammates knew him as Chuck or Chaz or C.B. — star basketball center, ace baseball pitcher, varsity soccer goalie, and trumpeter for Elusions, an R & B group that covered James Brown, The Temptations, and Earth, Wind & Fire at dances in the old Collinsville School.
Now, he’s Downtown Charlie Brown from Chicago. And this Friday, Sept. 22, 2023, he will bring the Downtown Charlie Brown Blues Band to his old stomping grounds as a headline act at the Morristown Jazz & Blues Festival.
