Apr. 17—ARCHBALD — In one room, students can virtually dissect pigs or explore the human body. In another, they can design graphics and film programs for television.
In other areas of the new STEM Innovation Center in the Valley View School District, sixth through 12th graders can use 3D printers, complete engineering challenges or work in groups using desks with erasable whiteboard tops.
As school districts throughout the region work to strengthen STEM programs — science, technology, engineering and math — Valley View repurposed its high school library. The district will officially open the center during a community open house from 5 to 7 p.m. Monday.
“I am so excited the kids are going to experience immersive, hands-on, project-based learning,” said Marisa Barilka, district STEM director.
