“It’s a little surreal to actually have everyone in the building,” South Elementary Principal Jennifer Hughey shared. “I felt like we waited a long time from a few years ago when they started breaking ground to seeing the kids actually going into the classroom. It’s just exciting because I know that there’s great things that are about to happen.”
The construction of South Elementary was vastly different than Plainview Central or Plainview North Elementary. While North and Central were completely new buildings constructed from the ground up, South Elementary built upon one of the district’s campuses that already existed, La Mesa Elementary.
“I think the (school) that is going to be the most impressive is South,” Superintendent H.T. Sanchez said in a prior board meeting.
