DANBURY – As hundreds of Danbury High students had lunch in the bustling cafeteria, dozens of student organizers set up an education station next to the vending machines to engage peers about the need for more funding for the city’s schools.
“The whole point is that Danbury is the least-funded school system in our state and that causes problems because it impacts our extracurriculars and our education, so we are trying to make sure that we get more funding,” said Norine Latli, a high school junior and founder of a club that encourages women to enter the science and technology fields.
“We are trying to make sure that we are getting the funding. We are all coming together because of this common idea – even though these clubs aren’t related to each other – we all have the same goal in mind.”
