Most students in the Danbury area will return to the classroom this week to see new faces, perhaps some construction and an easing of COVID-19 restrictions.
The new school year is expected to be, as one superintendent called it, a “reset and relaunch” after three straight academic years of COVID-19 affecting learning.
Since last spring, students are no longer required to wear masks indoors or on the school bus. For this school year, the state Department of Public Health has loosened restrictions, allowing children to attend school with minor cold symptoms if they have tested negative for the virus.
But the new school year will also bring new superintendents and new principals to several districts. Some school districts are working on expanding or upgrading buildings, as well as introducing new programs.
