There’s a new space in town. A makerspace.
Wilson Arts is in the initial stages of renovating 7,000 square feet in its 204 Nash St. S. building to create MakerSpace — an area that will host events in metalworking, ceramics, woodworking and mixed media, in addition to housing a theater rehearsal studio.
The organization recently hosted a pillar-signing ceremony last month for Wilson Arts supporters, who had the opportunity to sign three pillars within the space, leaving their marks for future generations.
Wilson Arts moved into its current space, a former Roses department store, in 2019, following a $2.4 million debt-free renovation of the building. It houses 13,000 square feet of flexible gallery space, a culinary arts kitchen, offices, gift shop and the Collective Vision meeting room.
