STATEN ISLAND, N.Y. — With hard work, determination, fishtails, lobster claws and a little bit of kindness from a local business, the Wu-Tang Clams art group won over the Coney Island Mermaid Parade crowd once again with their Staten Island pride and a one-of-a-kind display.
The spectacle group’s signature chant, “the Wu-Tang Clams ain’t nuthing ta shuck wit,” — a spin off of the Wu-Tang Clan’s iconic slogan — rang through the streets of Coney Island in Brooklyn for the fourth time at the 41st annual parade.
Famously known for the extravagant mermaid costumes worn by attendees, the Mermaid Parade is America’s largest art parade and aims to celebrate “the artistic vision of the masses.” The event also signifies the start of the summer season and the opening of Coney Island Beach for swimming.
