A chance meeting on a river trip last year helped Jamie Abbott get to know her predecessor as the executive director of Carbondale Arts, Amy Kimberly, and what it would take to bear a special torch.
Though Abbott’s pending application at the time to take on the position wasn’t discussed, those days on the river did provide a mutual glimpse through each other’s windows to the nonprofit arts world.
