Libraries as community spaces
What are libraries? A place for books, DVDs and computers, or is a library a community space that offers an experience beyond books? Over the past 10 years, libraries have evolved from books to more exciting places that bring together younger and older communities to learn and create.
So, what is the library of the future? The Loveland Library Mosaic holds community events that celebrate the voices of diverse cultures. Additionally, Loveland has a Mobile Laundry service that assists community members. The Louisville Library has a makerspace. “The Louisville Public Library’s Makerspace is a collaborative workspace for the community and a space for creative programming. We offer programs for teens and adults in sewing, 3D printing and other creative art projects.” The Boulder Library has a theater, coffee shop and makerspaces.
