Calling all crafters! Johnson County is seeking donated face masks for our community’s healthcare workers, first responders, and other front-line staff working to combat the spread of COVID-19.
While the Johnson County Library buildings have been closed, Makers from the Black and Veatch Makerspace in the Central Resource Library have been hard at work sewing masks, and several Library staff have since joined in their efforts. If you like to sew and would like to join them from home in assembling masks, the Makers recommend these resources for making masks.
One of the Makers who is helping sew masks, Nick Ward-Bopp, wants to encourage others to help. “This is an emergent situation and these masks are the last line of defense when all other standard personal protection equipment (PPE) is not available,” Ward-Bopp said.
