Students at De Vargas Elementary School now have their very own space to learn to code, program robots and have access to a 3D printer.
Cupertino Union School District on Feb. 23 opened its first and only student MakerSpace, where students are free to build and create.
“You learn by doing, trying and investigating,” said De Vargas principal Jennifer Tyson.
Since early 2014, the school has been transforming into a STEM school that will put a greater emphasis on real-world, hands-on learning.
STEM is an acronym for Science, Technology, Engineering and Math education. The school”s working vision is to create an academically rigorous K-5 STEM school that empowers self-motivated students to collaborate, think critically, solve problems and contribute to the global society, according to Tyson.
