A new creative space for hobbyists and community members alike is now open in downtown Tuscaloosa.
The Druid City Makerspace was founded by Tiffany Amirkhanian and her husband, Armen, who teaches civil engineering at the University of Alabama.

Tiffany Amirkhanian, who enjoys crocheting and other crafts, said she wanted to create a place where community members can let their creative juices flow, relieve stress and try new things.
Tiffany Amirkhanian taught school for several years in Illinois before she and her family moved to the Tuscaloosa area. She said her 5-year-old daughter Aislinn enjoys the Tuscaloosa Art Garage and the mom of three wanted to create a similar place for adults where she can also continue her love of teaching.
