STAMFORD — In a sprawling building in Stamford’s South End, one of the world’s largest makers of household appliances is making a manufacturing comeback in the Nutmeg State. And its doors are open, literally, for the general public to see the action.
Two years after the project was announced, GE Appliances’ multipurpose CoCREATE center is now fully operational. The 67,000-square-foot complex, at 47 John St., is not only churning out units for two popular brands, but also aiming to become a hands-on hub where students and other community members can learn and innovate — as highlighted by company executives and elected officials during a grand opening on Thursday.
