CONTRA COSTA COUNTY, CA — One person died and one was hospitalized following an early morning, two-vehicle T-bone accident on Vasco Road near Walnut Boulevard south of state Highway 4 Thursday, the East Contra Costa Fire Protection District said.
Crews responded shortly before 4 a.m. and Vasco Road was closed in both directions for a time as the driver who was killed was extricated from the vehicle, which had ” major intrusion of the passenger compartment,” officials said.
The second driver was taken to John Muir Medical Center in Walnut Creek.
The accident is being investigated by the California Highway Patrol.
