(Essex) — Some Essex High School students recently left the classroom to check out some REAL maker space.

Students of Kathleen Johnson’s Essex High physics class visited the bridge still under construction over the East Nishnabotna River on 150th Street west of Essex. During their field tour, the students watched as A.M. Cohron and Sons crews laid concrete on an open deck railing, and received hands-on instruction in testing concrete. Johnson tells KMA News she contacted County Engineer J.D. King for permission to bring her students to the bridge.
