Development of downtown Midland not only as a business destination but for retail, restaurants and entertainment is a long-held desire of city officials. Progress has been made through the building of Centennial Park and microbusinesses and restaurants on Wall Street nearby.
But to further development, members of the Midland Development Corp. decided to request proposals for a downtown master plan. Three companies – Parkhill, Halff and Kimley-Horn – responded, submitting proposals that offered a pathway to turning Downtown Midland into that desired destination point.
At their monthly meeting Monday, board members discussed the issue and indicated they would like to hear presentations from the companies to inform their decisions moving forward.
