BEREA, Ohio — When math and science majors return to Baldwin Wallace University’s campus on Jan. 19, they’ll have a brand-new building to call home.

The Knowlton Center, nestled by the observatory and the Center for Innovation and Growth off Front Street, will be classroom ready for a variety of math, science, engineering and computer courses.

Ground was broken on the 55,000-square-foot building in October. The center features open spaces, plenty of windows and a dramatic elevator shaft in the entryway that is wrapped in wood panels reclaimed from trees removed as part of the project.

“The knots and lines in each piece of wood were preserved,” William Reniff, vice president for finance and administration, pointed out as he conducted a tour of the facility. “It has a natural look.”
