Thursday marks one week since the immigration restrictions, known as Title 42, expired.Title 42 was a pandemic-era authority that gave U.S. officials the ability to turn away migrants seeking to cross the U.S.-Mexico border due to not wanting to spread COVID-19.Leading up to the surge, border officials continuously saw a surge of tens of thousands of migrants trying to cross the borders at various points. Back in Cincinnati, a nonprofit called Heartfelt Tidbits watched the surge grow while also keeping its eye on the looming expiration of Title 42. Since 2008, Heartfelt Tidbits told WLWT its help more than 55,000 immigrant and refugees resettle in Cincinnati.
