It could be another three months before The Salvation Army in Jacksonville can move into its new building on the former MacMurray College campus.
The Salvation Army signed a purchase contract in October with Turner Property Investors to enable the organization to move into the building formerly known as the Gamble Campus Center, 621 E. Beecher Ave.
While it was hoped the move would be completed in early 2023, Salvation Army Capt. Chris Clarke said the move is being delayed because work being done to connect electric and water service has taken longer than expected.
Clarke said electricity in the former MacMurray buildings were on the same electric grid and the Gamble Center didn’t even have its own circuit-breaker box.
