IUP’s recently opened makerspace, STEAMSHOP, is bringing Pittsburgh-based maker Nina Barbuto to campus on April 25.
Barbuto is the founder Assemble, a community space that promotes arts and technology in Pittsburgh’s Garfield neighborhood, where access to both is scarce. Barbuto is also the co-founder of the I Made It! Market, a traveling market that partners with local communities, local artists and non-profit organizations to raise funds and awareness of the issues affecting the host community. The I Made It! Market was named “Best Place to Buy Locally Made Crafts” by The Pittsburgh City Paper in 2022.
