Patrons can find treasures when they visit their local library, and it’s not all in the bookstacks.
How about borrowing a metal detector to find buried valuables?
According to Tina Sabol, community engagement manager at the Medina County District Library, their “Tools & Tech” offerings include a metal detector and other “useful gadgets” for home and health, to the latest electronics, and even musical instruments.
It’s part of the expanding mission of libraries to provide more services to the community and attract more visitors.
“We want to be the community meeting place,” said Sabol. “We want people to say ‘Meet me at the library.’”
This includes kids, and adults who might not have been inside a library since they were a kid.
“It’s a great way to bring people into the library. We want to bring people back into the fold,” Sabol said.
