Nearly every state has a state-funded school that is deemed as the go-to for students who want a “top-notch education” for a public-school price. New York has Queens College, Virginia has William & Mary and California has the University of California, Davis. At this point, it is no longer a secret to anyone that IUP really wants to be that institution for Pennsylvania.
This is made evident by initiatives such as the IUP Steamshop, a million-dollar initiative to create IUP’s first maker space; the upcoming college of osteopathic medicine, which would be Pennsylvania’s first public medical school; and the new tuition affordability plan which has made tuition even cheaper for current students.
